#386 Fedora-review command issue
Closed: not-a-bug by decathorpe. Opened by kvijay8448.

I am using a Virtual machine which is installed with Fedora - 31.

I have installed all the below requirements and also configured.
1. Java
2. maven
3. Ant

and install fedora pgdg as per below,
- wget https://yum.postgresql.org/9.4/fedora/fedora-31-x86_64/pgdg-fedora-repo-latest.noarch.rpm
- yum install pgdg-fedora-repo-latest.noarch.rpm

Downloaded the source zip file from below,
wget https://01.org/sites/default/files/downloads//verification-service-1.5.1.zip

unzipped it (unzip verification-service-1.5.1.zip)
and
unpacked it (rpm -i host-verification-service-4.5-1.el7.src.rpm)
So that it placed the sources inside ~/rpmbuild/SOURCE.

then went to rpmbuild/SPECS,
rpmbuild -bs [filename].spec
It generated source rpm inside, /rpmbuild/SRPMS.

then I install fedora review packager ,
- dnf install fedora-packager fedora-review
- usermod -a -G mock root (this will create user group)

Then tried the below command,
fedora-review -v -o '--no-bootstrap-chroot --no-cleanup-after --no-clean --enable-network' -r -n host-verification-service-4.5-1.fc31.src.rpm

But it got failed with the below error.

* Build log :

Since I have no clue what you're even attempting to do here (and why you're invoking fedora-review / mock with such strange options), I suggest backing up a bit and explain what you wanted to do, not what you failed to do?

Thanks for the reply.
Actually I have generated an rpm from the given source. I am believing that the generated rpm is very much common to all the linux distributions (RHEL/ CentOs/ Fedora). So that, I need to verify this generated rpm at least meets the minimum dependencies for to be installed specifically on Fedora 31.
So that only I am performing this fedora-review command operation on the generated source rpm inside /rpmbuild/SRPM.

I don't know whether this one correct or not. Could you please guide me?

And explain me the exact use of this command.

fedora-review -v -o '--no-bootstrap-chroot --no-cleanup- after --no-clean --enable-network' -r -n host-verification-service-4.5-1.fc31.sr c.rpm

Thanks,
Vijay

You're attempting to rebuild a source package from a third-party binary package?
Where are you getting the .spec file from?

fedora-review really isn't meant to deal with situations like this.

Then what is the actual use of this fedora-review command ?

If I want to perform the mentioned operation (Checking dependency specific to Fedora OS), which command can I use?

@kvijay8448 fedora-review is used to automate certain steps of package review, when a package is proposed for inclusion in the official fedora repositories. This doesn't seem to be what you want to do here (check a third-party package, for which you do not have the source package).

I suggest you use the plain "rpmlint" utility for this.
