Regarding user logins AD is case insensitive and UNIX/Linux is sensitive.

We do not have a config option to change usernames case. That said searches are case insensitive IIRc so Administrator matches also administrator.

We may want to have an option for AD deployments to always lowercase names though. It's always been a useful feature of samba.

This isn't just AD but any LDAP source. Ticket #246 broke this behaviour and had a patch to get case insensitivity back. Unfortunately that patch was never finished so now we have a rather nasty regression compared to pam_ldap/nss_ldap. :/
