#256 Console does not show connection/authentication error message

When starting the pkiconsole, if there is a problem with the connection (e.g. wrong port, server down) or authentication (e.g. wrong password), the console will just exist without showing any error message. Ideally it should display an error message so users can troubleshoot the problem.
