#4 COSMIC Fedora wiki landing page and/or DOCS page.
Opened by jeffiscow. Modified

Hey y'all I'm Jeff, a Software Engineering student from Ohio. I've been hanging around the fedora project for the past 6ish months and learning how things work around here, and I feel I'm ready to start contributing more.

I really like how COSMIC is starting to look, it seems to have or plans to have all the features I've wanted in a DE. So I'm looking to help anyway I can.

It was mentioned that it would be nice to make a landing page for COSMIC DE and maybe update the SIG page. It was suggested to make the landing page like the KDE one. I think that's a great idea and can be used as a template. It's easy to read, concise and has all the info you need to use and contribute.

I'll make a draft page on the Wiki, so the bulk of the work will be done. We'd just need to add any extra stuff we want and have someone double-check the technical details. I should be able to get the first version done pretty quickly. I'm pretty familiar with how the fedora wiki works. (in theory from reading the docs lol)

On second thought how about a DOCS page? It's accessible from the home page and linked default start page on Firefox when you first install Fedora.

It's most likely the first contact with Fedora documentation that users come across. Not to add, the Fedora Wiki can be confusing to navigate for new people. I know it was for me.

That’s a good idea! It’d be a good place to have information about COSMIC and Fedora, how to get involved, how to install COSMIC, etc

Ok, cool. I'll look into DOCS more. I've just done a quick skim so far, and I'll try to whip something up over the weekend or at least get the ball rolling.

After talking to a few people over at the Docs team, I have a pretty good Idea what I have to do.

To start, I'll need to fork the docs repo to the cosmic sig pagure.

I believe to do that, I'll need added to the group. @ryanabx you're the group sponsor, right? Once in the group, I can really get the ball rolling. It doesn't seem that difficult to write a docs pages. Shouldn't take a long time to get it done.

@jeffiscow I have added you to the pagure group! If you need to be added to any other things COSMIC SIG, let me know

You can see an example of how this was done for Kinoite if you want a full subsite: https://pagure.io/fedora-kde/kinoite-docs

That said, that's probably unnecessary right now.
