I got this report and offered to file a ticket since the user can't file a ticket:

Also:
My username is MaxR
There's no 'maxr' user that I can see.
I do see a 'max_rodriguez' user however. Can you have them try that instead?
Just successfully logged in! I had a rough time with creating an account and logging in multiple times, but just right now it worked out. Hopefully these small issues can be fixed :)
Glad to hear it!
Yeah, we are still working out several issues and very sorry if you hit one of them. ;(
Thanks for hanging in there and getting it working.
Metadata Update from @kevin: - Issue close_status updated to: Fixed - Issue status updated to: Closed (was: Open)

Yes, and if at all possible, It would be incredible to be able to have username changes, or permanent account removal. I'd love to rather have maxr as my user haha
maxr
There's no automated way, but you could register maxr with a different email and then disable max_rodriguez and just use maxr...
Sadly the register page says maxr is taken, might need to wait out the issue. Also just curious where I can disable an account?

Huh. I don't see it being taken... I guess in the new account system you have to ask us to disable.
@abompard any ideas on 'maxr'

This is probably also an issue on the sign up page. Any string of characters that go into the username text box result in a prompt saying 'Username is already taken.'
Hmm, I see no error in the sign up page, could you send me a screenshot @max_rodriguez please? Or maybe it was a temporary issue?
I just tried to register maxr and it worked, so it should be possible for you (I cleaned up my attempt afterwards ;-) ).
I got another report from someone who was having a similar problem with being told that all usernames are taken, but also couldn't reproduce.
Oh I think I've found why. Noggin is incorrectly reporting that the username already exists while the problem is that an account with the same email address already exists. Will fix.
Ah ok, this makes sense. I was wondering if it was just re-using that message for having the same email. I encountered this when trying to make another account when it wouldn't let me in to my current account, thanks for updating :)

It should be fixed by PR#665.
