#10672 Keep losing access to https://gitlab.com/fedora/legal/license-data
Closed: Fixed by kevin. Opened by dcantrell.

Describe what you would like us to do:

Make it so I stop losing access to https://gitlab.com/fedora/legal/license-data. Either Jilayne Lovejoy (jlovejoy) or Richard Fontana (ref) keep adding me as an owner and then the next day or so I'm removed. I am not sure what is going on.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

ok. I guess we didn't explain the auth setup in the group creation ticket.

The way it is currently setup, people in the fedora 'legal' group are mapped to 'owner' permission in the gitlab fedora/legal.
ALL / ANY other users that are not in the legal group are removed from any permissions there.

So, options are:

1) Add @dcantrell to 'legal' fas group. However then he will be an owner, which you may not want.

2) have us make a new 'legal-license-data' group and map members of it to some other permission like 'developer' or 'maintainer' and add @dcantrell there.

3) Remove the group mapping entirely and self manage it over on the gitlab side.

CC: @ref @jlovejoy

What would you like to do here?

so, I understand correctly - license-list-data is under the fedora/legal umbrella. if we add @dcantrell as an owner to fedora/legal - this issue goes away?

if that's right, then that is fine. I don't think we need a new legal-license-data group at this point in time.

on a related note - looking at the list of owners in fedora/legal - there are a lot of people there ??

Yep.

ok. Adding him to that group should fix this.

Note that just like fedora/legal/legal-license-data inherits from fedora/legal, fedora/legal inherits owners from fedora, so those ones you see are likely top level owners.

I don't think there's anything for us to do here, but if you need anything, please feel free to re-open this ticket or file a new one and we would be happy to assist.

I think we need some assistance adding me to the legal group. Can you help?

I have already added you to the legal group

Hmmm, then how come I don't see myself here:

https://gitlab.com/groups/fedora/legal/-/group_members

Do I also need to be added on the gitlab side?

https://accounts.fedoraproject.org/group/legal/

I am not in that group.

Just to close this out in the comments...we finally got things sorted on our end. I am in the legal group and gitlab permissions are synced up.
