#12693 Move ibiblio machines to new vlan
Closed: Fixed with Explanation by kevin. Opened by kevin.

For various reasons, ibiblio would like us to move our machines/vm's there to a new vlan.

We have 2 hardware machines there:

ibiblio02.fedoraproject.org
ibiblio05.fedoraproject.org

Which various vm's on them.

The default vlan tagging is set still to the old vlan, but they have setup the switch so we can tag things with the new vlan.
I have created a br1 bridge tagged to this vlan on ibiblio05 and moved one vm to it (smtp-mm-ib01).

Next steps are:

  • setup ibiblio02 with a br1 bridge to the new vlan.
  • one by one move the vm's over to it (which will require changing their dns and network config or changing dns and reinstalling).
  • Once all the vm's are moved, coordinate with ibiblio to setup an outage where we change the default vlan to the new one, drop the old one entirely and make sure the hardware machines are up on the new one.

I've been working on this for a bit and realized I didn't have a ticket to track it. ;( So, here it is. ;)

Everything is now moved over to the new vlan.

We now need to schedule an outage to drop the br1 bridge from vmhosts and set the default vlan on the switch there.

Waiting to hear back from ibiblio on that as they need to be there to change the vlan switching.

They want to do this outage on sept 22nd. I will file an outage ticket on that.

Turns out the people who could actually make the switch vlan changes were not able to make the 22nd, so we have rescheduled for the 29th.

This is now finally done.
