#60 F40 IoT images fail to install with bootloader error - "installing component EFI: No update metadata for component EFI found"
Closed: fixed by pwhalen. Opened by adamwill.

Since Fedora-IoT-40-20240905.0 , install of Fedora 40 IoT installer image in openQA testing fails with error "failed to write boot loader configuration" in the UI. In the system logs, we see:

13:23:27,187 WARNING org.fedoraproject.Anaconda.Modules.Payloads:INFO:program:Running in chroot '/mnt/sysroot'... bootupctl backend install --auto --write-uuid --update-firmware --device /dev/vda /
13:23:27,205 WARNING org.fedoraproject.Anaconda.Modules.Payloads:INFO:program:error: boot data installation failed: installing component EFI: No update metadata for component EFI found
13:23:27,206 WARNING org.fedoraproject.Anaconda.Modules.Payloads:DEBUG:program:Return code: 1

I cut out a couple of SELinux AVC logs as they're not relevant (it's in permissive mode).

Last known good was Fedora-IoT-40-20240903.0 .
