#360 Tracker & tracker-miners are installed on Fedora 38 KDE
Opened by cthulhoo. Modified

This package is exclusively GNOME-related and is, as far as I can see, absolutely unnecessary on KDE.

This isn't the first time I have to remove this package manually after running dnf5 upgrade. I'm not sure which exact dependency is pulling it but I really wish it would stop installing itself.

There doesn't seem to be a way to attach text files here, so here's a dnf5 upgrade pastebin:

And remove:

Thanks in advance!

It looks like the culprit here is gtk3 which recommends tracker-miners.
gtk3 is being pulled in by firefox at least. Since I don't know what else is on your machine, there might be others.

I don't have a solution, I'm just zero-ing in on the problem.

Thanks for your comment.

I've just dnf upgrade'd another desktop machine with F38 and it didn't pull tracker stuff. I'll make a note to compare packages, hopefully it's something I could easily uninstall and forget about it.

EDIT: disregard the above, my mistake. It was already installed. :(
