The plasma extension really is great. - displays download bar in taskbar - Displays better download progress and open dialog - better media control - ...
It is a big improvement to preinstall it. I dont know if there is the "install the extension" warning, but there are people that never listen to these.
Not that these should be focus. I agree this is a debatable topic, but the extension is great and improves the integration drastically.
I think this is a good idea. The how might be a little difficult as the extension is a user-side item and stored in their Firefox profile.
yes thats true. Firefox doesnt allow direct install, otherwise a "xdg-open https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/3859385/plasma_integration-1.8.1.xpi" or "firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/3859385/plasma_integration-1.8.1.xpi" would already work. You need to manually reload the URL, thats it.
I dont know if this will happen. It would include a userside startup script, which I find totally nessecary, but there is nothing like that currently.
A: copy it to /etc/skel.d/.mozilla/firefox/*default-release
B: Add a startup script to /etc/skel.d/.config/autostart/
This is technically a duplicate of #59 so let's track that there since there was already some work on packaging this
