#130 proventester mentor request
Closed: Fixed Opened by norbot.

My name is Norbert Papke. I am a software professional, have used Unix systems since the '80s, developed commercial software for Linux systems on and off for several years, used to be a FreeBSD home user for 12 years until I switched my home system to Fedora earlier this year.

I have read and believe to understand the process on the [http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Proven_tester] page. Have started to experiment with fedora-easy-karma.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi Norbert,

Welcome to Fedora, thanks for making the switch! I'll be happy to sponsor you into the proventesters group. Please take a moment to read through the proventester instructions. As a proventester, our job isn't to exhaustively find all defects in a software update. The focus is to determine whether the proposed software update negatively impacts core system functionality. Pay particular attention to the documented feedback procedures.

It sounds like you've already started reviewing the instructions. Once completed, can you please confirm that you ...
1. COMPLETED - have read and understand the instructions, and intend to follow the instructions when testing Fedora critical path updates
2. understand how to enable the update-testing repository
3. INPROGRESS - are familiar with providing test feedback using either the Bodhi web interface, or the fedora-easy-karma utility

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Once I hear back, I'll sponsor your membership in the proventesters group.

Hi jlaska,

I can confirm that

  1. I have read the instructions, have been following them for the last while and intend to continue to follow them.

  2. I understand how to use the update-testing repository

  3. I have submitted feedback using fedora-easy-karma

At this time, I have no questions. The process and tools are well thought out.

Thanks.
