@adamwill please update your artisinally hand-crafted size limit file to reflect an increase in Workstation x86_64's limit, which is now reflected in the docs
Nobody in the Workstation chat objected to my promise to update this today.
Oh, well, I figured people might wanna wait while I worked on the linux-firmware angle, but okay.
We talked about this briefly in workstation wg meeting today. We're seeing it's not exclusively a workstation ISO issue. There's no objection to bumping the max size to clear the blocker. We don't have a specific size in mind. Ideally we'd trigger on too high a standard deviation rather than a fixed amount.
e.g. If the typical growth is 4% per release, but we get a 6% bump the next release, don't warn. But if it's an 8% bump next release do warn.
Update: Matthias thinks 3GB is ok for the next warning, but a couple other concerns raised that this would permit an abrupt bump without warning. That emphasizes the absolute size isn't the concern but rather the rate of growth suggesting a (potential) underlying problem needing investigation.
this ticket is two years old, and was addressed at the time. If you're thinking about https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2360056 and you want to increase the size again, can we have a new issue for clarity? thanks.
I was planning to look at all the oversize issues as a group (there's a bunch of them) in the next week or two, FWIW.
This issue has been migrated to Fedora Forge: https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/relval/issues/25
Please continue any further discussion there.
