We currently present the Fedora Server SBC installation images on a par with the ISO files. However, we cannot effectively ensure the same reliability and consistency for our users as they pretend in this way.
Fedora has imposed a voluntary commitment on itself for ISO files by classifying them as “release blocking.” This does not apply to images (but it was valid about 10 releases earlier for arm32).
We have at least 4 options:
We can also establish the SBC image as “blocking,” although given the variety of models, we would have to limit ourselves to two or three reference models and that in sync with IoT and CoreOS. We already agree on most things. I think that would be the best solution.
We could make it a spin-off and move it there (together with our planned home server spin). Alternatively, we could leave it on the download page, but clearly separated and with an explanatory text about its status.
We could demote it to an „alt“ item and leave it there alone.
We could drop it at all. This is probably the least preferable solution. We would likely frustrate many users.
