Each and every website connected to fdora project uses different terminology furthermore different authentication system. I.e. I wanted to join to the design team at the link https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_Design_Team As suggested I had to subscribed to the mailing list, however when i registered it turned out that the link at the above page points to some old version of the mailman system where I had to create a subscription. So it didn't work. Then I found out the sudden blue a different link where I could register with mozilla persona login that is third one given the fact that I had to create a fedora account as well as suggested on the join page. I also checked and in the websites group page at the join to mailing list section the link is wrong as well. here https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Websites/Join
So my original plan was to join to the design team, however now i have to keep in mind 4 different login credentials, and at each page there is a different naming structure. E.g. to submit this bug report i was asked for an open id which turned out to be equivalent with my fedora account, but with FAS account cannot access the same subscription I did with persona at the mailing list.
My brief suggestion was to try to consolidate all these websites and services and use a single type of authentication service, that is call the same at each and every websites. Eg. now i have different credentials for fedora account, to the wiki site, to the mailing list where my suggestion was to use only the fedora account that was valid to everywhere.
thanks,
Karoly
Sorry but I cannot follow you. The links you mentions, specifically in the websites join page on the wiki to the mailing list, work correctly here. You also have to use your unique FAS account for any web app you access in Fedora world (Fedora OpenID in fact).
Obviously your mailing list subscription is different, because you login with your mail address, not with your FAS nick. But even with the mailing lists you can can still sync out your login for all ML you subscribe in order to have just one password to remember.
Well,
I amnaged to sign up for the mailing list at the links provided in the join page and following the instructions on the actual links. I recieved feedback, password and confiramtion email, however I was not able to post on the mailing list. An administrator checked and he suggested that I am subscribed tothe old emailin (mailman) list. I unsubscribed and used one of the links rom the emails recieved as refjection from the mailing list and there (on a different web surface) I managed to subscribe. So my bug report is about if you use the fedora wiki join pages it points to an email list subscrition page that is incorrect!
The other stuff was only remarks on the usability issues of the website. As you also wrote in your feedback that FAS account is (in facet) an OpenID. However that I did not find on the homepage, so I expected that this is something different. So from a usability aspect at the bug tracker heading menu it would be better to use : log in with Fedora account " instead of login with OpenID. Also at the fedora wiki page I seem to have different username then FAS accoutn .
Anyways, best regards,
Wiki edits can be done at any time, logins are working as they are supposed to do. Please reopen if you feel there is still any issue here.
