I'm a provenpackager, and I'm using that to commit to perl modules, for example. I do love autotools, and I do frequently give people hints about using them. Being flagged as sponsor might help me advertise that I'm happy to anwer peoples questions, about autotools, about using auto commands in .spec, even other problems of packaging.
OTOH, reviewing new packages is not my favourite hobby. I do it very thoroughly, incredibly slowly, so I do it very rarely.
My main motivation which made me to go through the trouble of formulating the above paragraphs and filing this ticket was that I observed that sponsors became automatically members of provenpackager group at the latest reseeding. Perhaps acquiring po-actively the sponsor status will save me several hours at the next reseeding; or it might become a handy enabler in another activity in Fedora community. That includes thet as soon as I meet someone whom I'd like to initiate, I'll be more ready to do it.
This request was declined on the basis that the reasons presented for becoming a sponsor was to avoid work in the event of some future reseed of provenpackager, not the desire to assist and teach anybody in becoming a Fedora packager. As there is no such reseed now planned or even likely, this request made very little sense.
