Hello,
Two maintainers don't respond.
Craig Barnes (Discount) Eric Smith (Gsmartcontrol)
Thanks
Please follow the process outlined at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Policy_for_nonresponsive_package_maintainers
I already did it :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1368430 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1352299
They don't answer for months on the bugs reports and on the fedora devel mailing list.
Sorry, this isn't following the process. Please clearly state in bugzilla that you are starting the nonresponsive maintainer procedure. After 7 days, repeat this in bugzilla. Then after 7 more days send the same request to the devel mailing list, CC-ing the maintainers in question.
From what I can tell, this has not been done.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Policy_for_nonresponsive_package_maintainers#Outline explains how to do this in detail.
Yeah, you are right, I didn't follow exactly the procedure but the point is that these 2 people in charge of maintaining packages don't care anymore. That hurt the distro. I already tried everything I could to contact them at the time I wasn't aware of the nonresponsive maintainer procedure. It took time to do that and in the meantime the distro have problem (see gsmartcontrol [thanks to Vasiliy Glazov it's fixed]). Now if you don't want to use these informations feel free to close this ticket and don't care too.
Closing this as
1) Process for non-responsive package maintainers was not followed before filing ticket here.
2) Eric Smith (fas:brouhaha) is active as per fedora_active_user.py results. Craig Barnes(fas:cbb) looks away as per fedora_active_user.py results. His last FAS login was 17 months before but he maintains only 2 packages dex (no open bug) and discount(1 open bug -> update 2.2.0 release)
I see no urgent issues to address for cbb's packages. I will try to update discount package to 2.2.0 release by this weekend.
This is not urgent of course but clearly Craig Barnes should not be a maintainer anymore. Eric Smith is maybe active but didn't care/didn't have time to take care of the "simple" bug reported against Gsmartcontrol and he didn't even answered...
Thanks.
Please understand you are judging based on a single bug and that to bug got fixed by someone else within 2 months and then there is no issues where we can find Eric Smith is not responding.
I checked now [https://apps.fedoraproject.org/datagrepper/raw?user=brouhaha&topic=org.fedoraproject.prod.pkgdb.acl.update datagrepper] results for Eric Smith and can clearly see the person(fas:vascom) who fixed that gsmartcontrol bug has already been approved by Eric Smith as co-maintainer for gsmartcontrol. So there exists no issues against Eric Smith.
