#1721 Non-responsive maintainer process for caillon, and retiring xchat
Closed: Fixed Opened by rishi.

I would like to initiate the non-responsive maintainer process for Christopher Aillon. A long time ago, he used to be part of the Fedora and Red Hat desktop teams. He is no longer around. He left software development and was last seen living off the grid in Hawaii.

I am particularly interested in xchat, which I want to retire right after removing Chris as the point of contact for his packages.

See these threads for past discussions on this topic:

I have been maintaining the iso-codes package since long time but as a co-maintainer. I request to give me (pnemade) iso-codes package as a main PoC.

Registering my interest in taking over gnuchess and xboard, should Chris not return.

I could have sworn we went through the process for caillon last year, but maybe we just handwaved it because most of his packages had live comaintainers. I'm +1 for completing the process.

Umm... insufficient data?

We are at the 5th step of the non-responsive maintainer process:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Policy_for_nonresponsive_package_maintainers

As per the 6th bullet point, I am supposed to take over xchat, but how? https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/xchat/settings gives me a 403. Has caillon been removed as the point of contact for all his packages?

From #fedora-desktop on GIMPNet:
rishi: go ahead and reopen that ticket. I was just trying to
do some maintenance on tickets. We had a lot that were untouched for
months.

agreed orphan all of caillon's packages and announce this. If xchat should go away, someone can pick up ownership and retire it (+6, 0, -0)

Please don't forget above request

Thanks.

Also, please make sure the orphan announcement reflects the pkgdb->pagure change.

@pnemade I have changed POC to you on iso-codes

@risi xchat should be orphaned, so you can take it and retire it.

@limb feel free to take any of the packages you like.

Thank you! I have filed https://pagure.io/releng/issue/6986 for adopting xchat.
