#1748 F27 System Wide Change: No More i686 Kernels
Closed: Invalid Opened by jreznik.

I would like to ask FESCo to review this Change proposal:

Stop building i686 kernels, reduce the i686 package to a kernel-headers package that can be used to build 32bit versions of everything else.

As discussed on the list, this should likely move to a System Wide Change. The technical implementation is fairly limited, but its impact effectively removes support for a subset of our user base today.

I am +1 for the Change though.

I'd like to see a bit more discussion on this topic before I vote.

Still +1.

How can I understand the FESCo decision here ? Is agreed this Change is going to be postponed or it is just a proposal to postpone it and a final decision will be made on a next meeting (with the meeting keyword removed) ? Reference to #1737 makes no sense to me as we need the decision now due to F27 time lines, but #1737 is about building functional i686 SIG till F27 GA, which is too late for this Change.

This change would not happen before F28 as it stands, we are too late in the cycle for a system wide change.

@jkurik This change is blocked by #1737 and FESCo will likely discuss this issue again once there's some conclusion on #1737

Closing this ticket as invalid, given that the decision on #1737 was that the i686 SIG is approved.
