#1754 Fork Fedora!
Closed: Invalid Opened by groovyman.

I do not want to see Flatpack in my System with F27 , so lets fork it!

  • want still a dll that can be assigned to a package
  • i want still one system management where we can track back problems in bugzilla
  • i want still use RPM fusion, who made a great job

Stop flatpacking, nobody wants a DLL chaos we know well in Windows.

Please, disconnect right now. Also feel free to close this issue before you do so.

Asking the technical governing body of Fedora to fork Fedora is an interesting idea, but not one that is going to win out. I'd note that Flatpak being introduced does not remove RPM support and you are not forced to use Flatpaks.

You are welcome to fork Fedora in any way you see fit. When you do, please be mindful and remove the Fedora trademarks. Good luck on your journey.

What ?

It was the decisions of Fesco to spit up Fedora in a rpm-maintained core variant and a flatpack variant, that is firstly sourced by rpm, due to a lack of providers.

So what ?

If you can guarantee, that in future that the entire Fedora F27+ is installed by rpm and i can use packages to update/change my installation, than i am fine, bit quite irritated of the discussion we saw in https://lwn.net/Articles/728699/.
If not, then i am very very sorry and then there should be some carification in the press.

And if my fears will come true, then was it a lowered budget or something else.
Anyway in this case, the fork was for you, to call it FESCO instead of Fedora!

Bye!
