https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Opensharedroot
This feature points people to use off-site non-fedora repos. This feels a little weird for us to be including.
Indeed it does. IMHO this doesn't qualify as a Fedora feature unless the required packages actually land '''in''' Fedora.
It would behoove FESCo to document this requirement in the feature process pages on the wiki, along with any other as yet undocumented requirements, so feature owners are aware of their responsibilities.
Isn't it kinda obvious that the components of a Fedora feature have to be actually in Fedora? Will we get feature pages starting with "1. Install Ubuntu" next?
When I read the feature page, I interpret it to mean the owner wants to get those packages into Fedora but the process of doing that is part of the feature acceptance process, and subject to testing, changes in other packages, etc.; and that the packages currently pointed to exist elsewhere as a temporary stopgap for proof of concept. I could be wrong, though. If the owner thought that was OK because our current policy was confusing, we could easily remedy that.
Opensharedroot is approved with the following caveats 1) it needs to use dracut, 2) all packages must be in fedora and 3) needs to be coordinated w/other cluster offerings and the people working on them
