For the next FESCo meeting to review:
This is a late F28 Change proposal, however due to urgency FESCo is asked to review and consider acceptance of this Change proposal.
Stop building 389-ds-base on i686
389-ds-base does not work properly on i686 hardware in regards to atomic types.
+1
+1 to the change, but I wonder if it should be a system-wide change since it does affect quite a few packages.
Nah, I think it reasonably falls into the "only affects a limited branch" ruling. The other packages it affects are just its own derivatives like FreeIPA.
This will be discussed at the 2018-04-06 FESCo meeting.
A reluctant +1 to this change.
And It's still not clear (after all the discussion, both in our meetings and on the mailing list and Bugzilla ticket) where 32-bit ARM stands with regards to this issue. If it really is a problem with atomic operations, have we been able to determine if the ARM atomics are OK, or not?
+1 reluctantly
AGREED: F28 Self Contained Change: Stop building 389-ds-base on i686 is approved (+7, 0, -0)
