#2306 Nonresponsive maintainer: Clément David (davidcl)

comainainers:
additional notes: The jrosetta package can be fixed by adding a single BuildRequires. The scilab package depends on this, and will be orphaned in February if still FTBFS.

This is a ticket for the Fedora's Policy for nonresponsive package maintainers.

Thanks.

jrosetta is retired. if you wish to take it, follow https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Orphaned_package_that_need_new_maintainers#Claiming_Ownership_of_a_Retired_Package

Do you want to continue this procedure with any other packages @davidcl is to be neglecting?

Thanks @churchyard. I'll do that.

It looks like a number of his other packages are dependencies of scilab, so I am happy to take them also.

Could you please provide a list of packages you are taking about and preferably also issues to fix?

Agreed that I am not interested on maintaining packages on Fedora anymore. I owned Scilab and some of its dependencies. @orion might also be interested on co-maintaining some.

The list is as follows:

  • gluegen2 (https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/gluegen2/bugs)
    builds ok
  • jgraphx (https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/jgraphx/bugs)
    builds ok
    CVE-2017-18197
    jgraphx-4.0.6 is available
  • jhdf5 (https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/jhdf5/bugs)
    builds ok
  • jlatexmath (https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/jlatexmath/bugs)
    builds ok
    jlatexmath-1.0.7 is available
  • jrosetta (https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/jrosetta/bugs)
    FTBFS
    Fixed with added BuildRequires.
  • matio (https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/matio/bugs)
    builds ok
    co-maintained by @lupinix
    matio-1.5.17 is available
    Multiple CVE issues
  • scirenderer (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/scirenderer)
scilab project related, but no longer built - @davidcl, can you comment on this?

There is also the FTBFS jeuclid package, but a fix is possible, and the old maintainer @bashton has responded at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1785011.

It may look a bit hairy at first, but I think it's worth it. I'll update this as I find out more.

On scirenderer, it used to be a dependency but is now included within scilab itself. Can be removed.

Great, thanks @davidcl.

More info:

  • jgraphx is co-maintained by @jerboaa. Can you take over?
  • jhdf5 is co-maintained by @zbyszek .

@davidcl Thanks for your clarification and sorry to see you go.

I've orphaned the packages, so any takers can just click the Take button in Pagure - if not retired already.

FWIW - I'm swamped and really don't want to take on any more items than I have to.
