I've been a packager for many years, mostly on astronomy related packages and some KDE packages. I'm now in the effort of taking care about stale package review tickets (see discussion on devel mailing list ) and to automate some processes within review-stats script. However, there are some packages that were approved, but never imported. I'm trying to contact the original submitter to check if they're still interested in the review process and if they don't I would like to retire the package from source repo. Some of those packages were never orphaned (here an example), so I would need provenpackager rights to do that. I don't plan to use superpowers for something else.

This is a good reason for requesting provenpackager rights. So +1 from me.
I assume this will be an ongoing effort rather than a one-time cleanup? (Even if the biggest chunk will probably be the first round?)

Yes, the first run will be quite big, at least about the amount of NEEDINFO messages sent (not so many tickets will be closed due to missing NEEDINFO replies). For this first run I have excluded tickets which have not so clear statuses, so these will have to be manually handled. I have started to look at these.
A week has passed.
