#3036 Guidance on how to handle 5 F39 System-Wide change proposals that were announced late
Closed: Invalid by amoloney. Opened by amoloney.

Hi FESCo members,

You may or may not be aware that I had been mentoring with Ben Cotton before he was laid off recently (sigh), and before he finished with RH he had asked me to help process the F39+ changes. The F-PgM job is a lot busier than you'd expect and Ben left some amazing documentation, but as processing changes is not part of my job remit with CPE, I missed the announcement deadlines for System-Wide changes for F39, sent them out to the lists and now there are currently x5 in the 'discussion' period, active ~2 days:

Color Bash Prompt
GNUToolchainF39
IBus 1.5.29
Indic Noto fonts
MigrateIfcfgToKeyfile

How would you like me to proceed? Im happy to process them a little earlier, ie on Monday 10th July in the morning (Ireland time) in advance of the next FESCo meeting or if you would prefer to keep them to the standard 1week + 1day, they will be processed on Thursday 13th? Or should I request the proposal owners resubmit under F40 change?

Apologies for the missed deadline, I will try keep a closer eye on the schedule dates for the F39 release.

Thanks,
Aoife

I am so sorry but I have no idea what "x5" means in this context.

Anyway, I'd carry on with the usual 1 week devel list period.

likely just means "five" (since the list consists of five entries)? :)

That said, having things only slightly late (i.e. a few days after the deadline) is not usually a problem, so I'd process them as usual. I think we've only ever postponed proposals that were very very late.

oh sorry my bad, I just mean 'number 5', the x = number, and I have no idea where I learned to write it like that but sorry for the shorthand :)

Thanks both for the guidance, Ill leave the usual discussion period stand and then process the change proposals as normal on Thursday.

Aoife
