#3050 Request major version update exception - Thunderbird 115
Closed: Accepted by zbyszek. Opened by xhorak.

The newer version of Thunderbird 115 has been released and the latest Thunderbird 102 version will be released around August 29.

After that to cover security issues we need to rebase the Thunderbird to version 115.

What releases is the exception for? F37 and F38?

I don't know what stuff depends on thunderbird, so it's hard to gauge the impact. Can you provide some more info about what the effect will be on other packages?

One thing that will likely be impacted is the Sequoia PGP plugin, but I'll handle that. I think I can prod upstream to tag a new release that should support thunderbird 115.

Other than that, it makes sense to rebase, since the old version won't receive security fixes. +1 from me (though knowing the scope of the exception would still be nice).

@xhorak, please see the questions above.

@zbyszek as @decathorpe mentioned there's the Sequoia plugin affected. There's not other dependency on the Thunderbird.

OK, +1 then.

It's been more than two weeks.

APPROVED (+4, 1, 0)

Announced.
