The org.opencontainers.image.name and org.opencontainers.image.license labels in Fedora container images get changed to org.opencontainers.image.title and org.opencontainers.image.licenses to more closely align with [ https://specs.opencontainers.org/image-spec/annotations/ The OpenContainers Annotations Spec].
org.opencontainers.image.name
org.opencontainers.image.license
org.opencontainers.image.title
org.opencontainers.image.licenses
Owners, do not implement this work until the FESCo vote has explicitly ended. The Fedora Program Manager will create a tracking bug in Bugzilla for this Change, which is your indication to proceed. See the FESCo ticket policy and the Changes policy for more information.
REMINDER: This ticket is for FESCo members to vote on the proposal. Further discussion should happen in the Discourse discussion linked above. Additional discussion may happen on the Fedora Devel mailing list.

Hello FESCo folks,
I assume that adding the "better" labels org.opencontainers.image.title and org.opencontainers.image.licenses will be noncontroversial.
What people raised some feedback about are - current org.opencontainers.image.name and org.opencontainers.image.license labels; - what to do about the non-namespaced labels like name or license.
name
license
My preference would be to remove the old namespaced labels in 44+, add the new ones but keep the old namespaced labels in 43 and 42 images as a migration mechanism, and do nothing about the non-namespaced labels (not part of this change).
But there were couple other ideas, captured in https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/ContainerImagesLabels#Feedback, so if you feel strongly about going differently about the change, I'd like your opinion.
I'd prefer to just go ahead and drop all the legacy labels at this time. It's one-time pain.
For F44+, you mean? Or just do the change for all current Fedora releases?
F44+. No reason to do it for earlier releases. It's just a cleanup in the kiwi descriptions.
Agreed, +1 to just dropping all legacy stuff from F44+.
+1 (and in favor of f44+ cleanup)
+1, with that approach
"Remove the old namespaced labels in Fedora 44+, add the new labels in Fedora 42+" APPROVED (+7, 0 -0)

@sgallagh Thanks.
What is the ruling/conclusion on the non-namespaced labels?
@sgallagh Thanks. What is the ruling/conclusion on the non-namespaced labels?
No change was formally proposed, so no change was voted on, as far as I am aware. In lieu of an actual proposal, the default is to retain the current state.
There were +3 to drop all the old labels
Ah, OK.
I re-added the commit with the removal of the legacy labels to this PR now.
