#402 Request for ProvenPackager membership - tremble
Closed Opened by tremble.

Mark Chappell aka tremble

= Qualifications =

RHCE + EX429 (SELinux)

= Rationale =

I've been working on trying to get more of EPEL built for EL-6 (currently only about 25% of this work has been done), especially rt3 which seems to need vast swaths of the perl stack these days.

I believe that with proven-packager status I would be able to greatly aid the process of getting EPEL-6 into a fit state which many of the existing Fedora/EPEL developers do not seem to have the time to do.

There was not enough positive feedback to approve this request at this time.

Please continue your work with the fedora community and re-open this request when you would like to try again. At that time we will ask for further feedback from sponsors.

NOTE: Sorry for closing this wontfix, trac doesn't have a 'deferred' resolution. ;(

Well let's try this again

== Qualifications ==

  • RHCE

  • I maintain/co-maintain over 150 packages, across multiple programming languages, mostly in EPEL : https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/users/packages/tremble

  • I have completed 9 reviews for fedora, with a 5 more waiting on the original submitter, and have produced 5 packages of my own.

== Rationale ==

I would like to be a proven packager mostly to work on the EPEL bug list. EPEL seems to be the poor relation to Fedora with a lot of simple to fix bugs, missing Requirements, needing rebuilds after ABI changes in other packages. I have the time and inclination to fix these bugs. So far I've been applying for ACLs and waiting, however this is leading to me having a list of packages that I am at least partly responsible for which is going to become unmaintainable, as well as delays on top of the months that these bugs have already been there for which is not good for EPEL.

Sent to sponsors for feedback.

I'm +1 to this request. Mark has been doing a great job helping out with EPEL issues and it would be great to have him be able to directly help out EPEL packagers.

+1 from me. I thought he was already a provenpackager :)

It's been a week, and all positive feedback.

This request is approved.

Congrats tremble. Use your powers wisely.
