#911 F18 Feature: Samba 4.0 - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Samba4
Closed Opened by jreznik.

For the 2012-07-30 meeting. Submitted before Feature Submission deadline.

Any update on the rename/keep 3 issue? I'm in favor of keeping both stacks, but am open to having my ming changed.

Our (samba/samba4 maintainers) consensus is to get it renamed back to samba.

As long as 4 does everything 3 does and doesn't introduce compatibility issues, I'm ok with that.

Links are broken in the release notes section; explicitly pointing to any "Samba 4 Guide for Samba 3 Administrators" would be nice.

I don't see any links.

Well there is a howto for migrating from Samba3 to Samba4 DC, but DC functionality is not available in Fedora. See in the Detailed Description of the document why this is the case.

So what the daemons provide is the same as in the Samba (version 3) package.

Links were broken in Documentation section (wrong external links syntax). I've fixed that.

AGREED: Samba4.0 is an approved feature (+8,-0) (mmaslano, 17:08:20)
