#989 request to grant pmachata provenpackager privileges
Closed Opened by pmachata.

I have been the maintainer of Boost package for several years now, and active with Fedora for a couple years before that.

Due to realities of Boost development process, rebases happen in every release and imply many rebuilds. The upshot is that Boost dependencies are commonly cited as broken in Rawhide reports for weeks, or even after branching a new Fedora release, waiting for the maintainer to pick them up and rebuild. Often, a simple rebuild is all that's needed—I could do that easily, had I had the privileges. Sometimes, a problem turns up, and often I'm the one providing patches (for Boost or the package under consideration) anyway.

The reason that I'm asking for provenpackager privileges is the hope that my intervention would make the post-rebase fallout less bad.

+1 to grant provenpackager rights. I think Petr is very well experienced.

+1 from me.

+1 (only saw this after my devel list post. ;)

I'd be very happy if you could rebuild all the deps that need it before merging back in rawhide.

+1 for Petr. He's more than experienced packager.

+1 from me, this really makes sense.

+1 here as well.

+1, reasoning makes sense, Petr is trustworthy packager and I just hate having to do boost rebuilds. ;)

Added to provenpackager.

Thanks everyone.
