Questions/Requested Information

** 1. What is your proposal? **

After read the article sent to the group by Justin [1] about microaggressions in the workplace, it might be a good idea to have some private sessions with those who feel affected by the Fedora overall environment somehow.

It's true that a lot of times people committing aggression isn't aware of those, maybe by language, culture or some other factors; and having people from all around the world in a single place could be a great opportunity to gather this knowledge and have a way to measure real cases. People feel vulnerable more than we even realize, specially when their work (name them contributions) are public and easy to follow.

** Who would be benefit of? **

• D&I team would be able to gather 1:1 info from real cases, real experiences since survey system haven't been a viable solution "yet".
• People with real struggles would find a familiar face where to lay part of their struggles and open up (hopefully)
• Fedora community CoC and how we handle events could benefit from the information gathered.
• Not only people affected, but 3rd parties friends who know cases and victims, can work as bridges into sharing those experiences.
• The better the info, the better we can help.

2. Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the room for this to succeed? This could be the audience you need to reach, other participants in the conversation, or other stakeholders.

3. Is this a…

• 5 minute Lightning talk
  To let people know our goals, what they can expect from this interviews, let contributors know the process to be part of the conversation and catch people's attention.

• FAD/Hackfest that lasts a full-day
  1:1 sessions with individuals who have experienced uncomfortable situations inside the Fedora Environment (or close friends who know 3rd party incidents). By taking half day for interviews, I can manage to use the rest of the time to gather and study the collected info and provide some main points at the end of the conference. ** This is NOT a support group, none of us is currently qualified to provide advice. Our main goal is to listen and try to make the changes on how our community can handle such cases... we are listeners **

• Evening or other activity (please describe duration in #1)
  1Day: To be able to gather as many info as possible, there will be several activities hosted during the day:
  ** A: ** Share a casual coffee with your listener, so it's not an uncomfortable interview.
  ** B: ** Have a chat table, so you can just write your thoughts but being closer for a friendly support if needed. Irc sessions sharing the same physical space with the listener.
  ** C: A note box. Have a box where people can write their experiences, suggestions and more, and just place them in a safe box where no names would be seen at all. completely anonymous, and again, read them all and discuss with the lesser details how that can help us improve.

• 25 minute Talk
  Present all the info gathered (no personal details or explicit details will be shared) and show the main points that should be considered to make a healthy impact on how we handle harassment/exclusion cases, suggestions for CoC (if so) based on contributors' experiences, and let people know what's the overall health of the community.

There's an ongoing discussion about this topics [2] where probably more ideas will come in order to gather as much effective info as we can.

4. Anything else we need to know?

Only plugs, and a projector to show the final results will be needed. Some coffee for the 1:1 sessions would be great as well, but not mandatory :) .
