The current documentation lacks a clear onboarding experience for new Fedora Gaming users. It assumes prior knowledge and doesn't guide users through the initial setup.
Based on the current state of the documentation, I created a high-level audit report. In this report, I documented the problems and proposed solutions for them.
Steps to Reproduce:
Visit the Fedora Gaming documentation: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/gaming/
Try to find a step-by-step guide for setting up Fedora for gaming as a new user.
Notice the lack of information on onboarding.
Expected Behaviour: The documentation should provide a clear, structured guide for new users to set up Fedora for gaming.
Actual Behaviour:
Lack of clear onboarding flow.
Empty pages
No detailed information
Proposed Solution (from Audit):
Adopt the proposed Information Architecture (IA).
Populate pages with no content.
Create an installation guide.
You can find the audit report document here- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UX0jdUz9H49i2Zn7YMLCGI_Q3JT32mJ83xWhgB-xgZM/edit?usp=sharing
These changes would improve the user experience and make Fedora gaming accessible to different levels of users.
Note: This document is open to feedback and suggestions from community members, contributors, and users. More audits will be added regarding the content in the documentation.
We are looking at priortizing some issues in the audit report and also looking for contributors.
Hey. I've taken a look into your google document. I've opened up a PR that hopefully makes a starting point into tackling the most obvious issues currently (lack of onboarding, lack of information). It's small and I'm not sure if I made the things I changed into a good flow for a new user. Would love some feedback into it!
