#1 cabal-install unusable (out-of-date)
Closed by petersen. Opened by kxra.

The Cabal package needs to be kept up-to-date with GHC, but since it is so far behind attempting to use it results in:

Warning: Unknown/unsupported 'ghc' version detected (Cabal 2.4.0.1 supports
'ghc' version < 8.7): /usr/bin/ghc is version 8.10.0.20200123

Thanks for reporting - what we really want is a cabal-install module probably but that is a lot work.

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/petersen/cabal-install/ has 3.2 btw.

Hopefully 3.0 will be in Fedora 33 :) ;)

cabal-install-3.0 landed in Rawhide

(But to comment on the original issue - I can only build newer cabal-install with newer ghc in Fedora. We can't have multiple versions of Cabal in main Fedora.)
