I'm forcing relative paths due to potential directory traversal.

Makes sense to me.

We might want to only support this:// then, since that guarantees the paths are relative?

Comment says "we want to ignore other protocols," but raises an error. Raising an error seems to be what we want, so comment should probably say "reject other protocols"
