A bug has been filed against texlive which says that all of the texlive component packages that end in "-fonts" need to be renamed. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2372658
For a number of reasons, I would like to request that the texlive components be excluded from this requirement.
+1
Personally I've never quite understood the fonts guidelines claiming the entire "-fonts" postfix, and TeX is a sufficiently large ecosystem that it really should be allowed to control everything under the "texlive-" prefix. So +1 to changing this. I really think the font guidelines go a bit too far in that "Important" box.
However, we can't just say "you have an exception" and leave it at that because the fonts guidelines are pretty explicit. I think the font guidelines need to be changed here; I'm just not sure how they should change. I suppose we could just remove "TEX" (sic) from the list and then note that TeX fonts are not covered.
We also spoke about this in today's meeting and agreed to the exception. It would be better if someone changed the guidelines, but we aren't going to wait for that to happen.
