#994 Allow issues to point to an outside issue tracker
Closed: Invalid Opened by bruno.

Some projects may have an existing issue tracker. For example projects related to Fedora might be using the Red Hat bugzilla. It would be nice to let people know where the tracker is, by having the issues link point to it rather than no link at all.

Okay, just to clarify this one, is this what you are after

  1. Have an option in the settings for a project to specify a link to an external bug tracker, and
  2. Disable the built-in pagure Issue tracker at the same time, and
  3. Have the "issues" tab at the top of a project URL point to the external issue tracker link set by the project owner in (1).

That's essentially it.
I thought of this when I wanted to file an issue for fedora-kickstarts which is moving to Pagure for its upstream. There was no issue tracker listed, so I wasn't sure if I should go to the old trac instance or if I should go to bugzilla. I thought if there wasn't an issue tracker on Pagure, that the issues link could still be useful pointing to wherever the tracker is. I expect this to be low priority, but still something that could make the service better.

I'd lean towards not enabling the tabs at the top to point to external sites, it kind of is against the idea that tabs are pages on the site you are on.

IMHO, if a project is using a 3rd party bug tracker, it should be listed in the README, and this should be enough without adding an extra non-standard feature to pagure.

+1 with @ryanlerch, it has been my thoughts as well

That seems a reasonable approach. I'll bug people about it when I run accross the issue with specific projects.

Thanks :)
