Hello,
Some days ago, I received an email from RedHat Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2385987
saying the following (short):
Your package (smf-spf) Fails To Install in Fedora 43: can't install smf-spf: - nothing provides group(smfs) needed by smf-spf-2.5.1^20220423g061e937-7.fc43.x86_64 - nothing provides user(smfs) needed by smf-spf-2.5.1^20220423g061e937-7.fc43.x86_64
I fixed it with the help of some guys at #fedora-devel (Libera.Chat) and I generated a new .spec file version -8, which was built correctly. Then I marked the bug as CLOSED-RAWHIDE following also the recommendations from IRC.
Now, I've just received a new email from Bugzilla but with the same contents as before: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2392602
So, I don't know how to tell to Bugzilla that this is already fixed in -8, not in -7.

The Bugzilla email says this:
If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Please check https://www.fedorastatus.org/ for any known outages before filing issues on an outage.
@churchyard, does it happen because of a set automation or because of the script that we use to do the FTIs bugs, any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
I don't know sorry. I maintain only a pair of packages and I just do an update once per year (at much).
I think that the automation process behind Bugzilla, should know that there is now a newer version ending with -8, and so it should discard or obsolete any previous versions and bugs.
So, the script operates on the actual released repos... so this update needs to actually be pushed out in a compose before it will be seen. ;)
And it was and I don't see the FTI bug being reopened or anything.
So, I think everything is good here?

Oh, I see. I read this too fast.
The new bug should be closed when the next compose for rawhide happens tonight. Since it was fixed in https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-1774004d70
@kevin, thanks for your assistance.
What should I put as the reason of CLOSED? (COMPLETED, RAWHIDE, ...)
The new bug should be closed when the next compose for rawhide happens tonight.
That is not correct. The bugzilla states The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only
You don't need to close it, it will be closed when the fixed build is available in the Koji repository for Fedora 43.
Note that https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2392602 is for Fedora 43 and https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-1774004d70 is for rawhide (Fedora 44), so rightfully, the bugzilla stays open for now.
A Fedora 43 build exists: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=2809330
But it needs to be manually submitted as an update in Bodhi. I recommend attaching the bugzilla to that update, so Bodhi will close it when it reaches stable (most likely after the Fedora 43 Beta Freeze).
OK, I won't close manually in Bugzilla. Now I've just submitted an update in Bodhi:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-6ceaa84e71
Thank you very much!

Oops. I must have mixed this up in my mind with something else (koschei perhaps). ;(
Thanks for correcting me and sorry for the misinformation. ;(

Hi,
I've just reopened this issue because Bugzilla still keeps sending me the same email every day:
The following is a list of bugs or attachments to bugs in which a user has been waiting more than 3 days for a response from you. Please take action on these requests as quickly as possible. (Note that some of these bugs might already be closed, but a user is still waiting for your response.) We'll remind you again tomorrow if these requests are still outstanding, or if there are any new requests where users have been waiting more than 3 days for your response. If you want these mails to stop you need to go to the bug[s] and cancel or ack the needinfo flags. See: * https://bugzilla.redhat.com/page.cgi?id=faq.html#flags point 3 * https://bugzilla.redhat.com/page.cgi?id=faq.html#miscellaneous point 2 needinfo -------- Bug 2385987: F43FailsToInstall: smf-spf (36 days old) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2385987 To see all your outstanding requests, visit: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/request.cgi?action=queue&requestee=xxxxx%40xxxxxxxx.xxx&group=type
What is expected to do from my side to stop receiving this email? Thanks.

You closed the bug, but you did not clear the needinfo. ;(
Go to the bug and check the 'I am providing the requested information for this bug (Will clear all needinfo requests)." checkbox and submit.
That should clear the needinfo and stop you getting emails
Oh, I'm sorry, didn't know that. Thank you very much!
