#9512 Possible repo request issue
Closed: Fixed by mohanboddu. Opened by returntrip.

  • Describe the issue

My request for repo at https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issue/25631 was closed due to the pagure repo already existing.

The repo does exist at https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rust-expat-sys/commits/master and was created today at around 04:00 CEST. The repo us not owned by me.

However, I cannot see a bugzilla ticket for the package review (other than my own) and the repo does not have any commits in it. Could there be some issue caused by the DC migration which caused the repo not to be assigned to me?

  • When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD)
    Whenever possible

  • When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)
    Not applicable

  • If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?
    The package will not be added to the repo

So, I am bit confused.

The repo does exist at https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rust-expat-sys/commits/master and was created today at around 04:00 CEST.

If it already existed why did you request for one again? And do you have the link to the BZ review url?

The repo did not exist prior to my request, which was made 2 days before the repo was created and assigned to user limb.

The BZ is https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1840224.

Yeah, this seems to be an automation failure of some sort. The repo owner is @limb, whose name I often see in automated repo creation emails, so maybe the repo got created but there was a failure so the request did not get closed as processed (and the repo ownership changed) -- then the request get re-ran again and fail.

Unless we want to investigate, the simplest fix is probably to just manually give the repo to @returntrip ? I reviewed the package.

This can happen if something goes sideways during processing. I reassigned the project to @returntrip .

Ooh, tried. Can't. "This user must be in one of the following groups to be allowed to be added to this project: packager"

@limb Ah that is strange cause I am part of the packager group.

Package where I am the main admin: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rust-rustc_tools_util
BZ with Michel's approval: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1839330

This same thing happened to the repo I just requested in https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issue/25665. That ticket was closed out as the repo already existing, and the repo that is in src.fp.o here https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-git-revise lists limb as the owner as well.

I gave @imcinerney python-git-revise, but I can't reassign rust-expat-sys to @returntrip . @mohanboddu, any ideas?

@limb Thanks for the fix!

It definitely looks like there is a breakdown happening somewhat consistently though, because another request yesterday had the same issue: https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issue/25666 (not one of mine). It looks like @jjames requested the package, and it was created but not transferred to them. That then led to their request for a new branch failing because they aren't the maintainer of the package: https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issue/25667.

Yes. If somebody could make me the owner of the ocaml-ppx-fields-conv repo, that would be great. Thanks @imcinerney for bringing it up.

@jjames done.

Thank you @limb!

@returntrip Now you own rust-expat-sys.

All the failures you might be seeing might be because of the data center move over the weekend. We are not running at full capacity.

Please be patient with us until we get back to full capacity. Thanks.
